Police kickabout in Maida Vale park

Posted by Juliet Eysenck on Sep 26, 08 01:14 PM in Crime

footbal-police.jpgPolice took time out from catching criminals in Maida Vale to stop goals instead.

Officers from the Westminster North Neighbourhood Support Unit were sent to Paddington Recreation Ground, in Randolph Avenue, ready to tackle a gang fight on September 15.

But when they arrived they found no brawl, instead just a group of children aged between five and seven enjoying a game of football in the park.

Sergeant Jack Addis and his officers joined in for around half an hour, in an effort to build bridges with young people in the community.

"Now tell me that this is not good policing," he said.

We'd like to hear from you.
