StoryStar - Top 10 tips

StoryStar is a writing competition for young people in west London aged 4 - 18. All entries are published on www.londoninformer.co.uk and the winners will receive books for themselves and their school from Random House Children's Books and see their stories printed in the paper.

The tiny cinema screened films on rotation, each lasting less than 15 minutes.

The smallest cinema in the world will be showing films at Paddington Recreation Ground this weekend.

The six-seater cinema, created by Swedish artist Annika Eriksson, will be showing a series of short films revealing life in Regent's Park.

Come to 666 Harrow Road (Queen's Park Library) on Halloween for a scary night. Party starts at 5.30 p.m. and continues until 7:00 p.m. Murderous music, ghoulish games and freaky food. Prizes for the best dressed. Ages 5 -12

A French market is coming to a popular Lisson Grove shopping street tomorrow.

Market traders will be selling French food such as croissants, baguettes, cheese and strings of onions and garlic throughout the day.

Diabetic man scoops award

Roger-Westman.jpgA diabetic patient has picked up an award to honour his 50 year fight against the disease.

Roger Westman, 69, who has been a patient at St Mary's hospital, in Praed Street, Paddington for 50 years, scooped the Alan Nabarro medal from Diabetes UK.

Karen Buck, MP for Regent's Park and Kensington North, holds a weekly surgery every Friday.

The advice session is held from 10am-noon at the One Stop Shop, in Harrow Road, North Paddington.

WALKER-10.jpgA Marylebone man has completed a 12-year dream to walk the entire coastline of Great Britain.

David Oldman, of York Street, has walked alone around England, Scotland and Wales in stages since 1996, completing the 5,700-mile trek earlier this month.

Extra police patrols, homework clubs and additional sports for young people are on the cards for residents living in Bayswater.

A total of £27,000 will be spent on two extra police officers in Lancaster Gate ward to patrol streets across the ward every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8pm until 1am to deter trouble.

Westminster-Academy---Main.jpgA landmark Westbourne Green school has picked up an award for its unusual bright green building.

Westminster Academy, in Harrow Road, scooped the RIBA (Royal British Institute of Architects) Sorrell Foundation Schools Prize 2008 for 'best school for raising standards of design in an all-new building'.
