GPs increase opening hours

doctor.jpgMore than half of GP practices in Westminster are now offering patients longer opening times.

NHS Westminster announced this week that 28 of the 52 practices have signed up to offer extra hours for patients, meeting the Department of Health target before the 1 December deadline.

Community groups and individuals are needed to help improve services in Westminster.

Westminster Local Involvement Network (LINk) is looking for people who use health or social services in the borough to voice their opinions.

Flat blaze in Bayswater

A blaze broke out on the fourth floor of a hotel in Leinster Terrace on Saturday evening at around 10.20pm.

One woman was rescued from the hotel using a turntable ladder, and around 50 other people evacuated the building.

The fire was under control by midnight. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A free exhibition of photographs is on display at the Spiro Ark gallery, in Enford Street, Marylebone, until January 11.

The display is made up of pictures of New York City parades, taken by Israeli photographer Adi Ashkenazi.

Offenders are making amends for their crimes by improving gardens on a Queen's Park housing estate.

A team of eight offenders has just been assigned to spruce up the gardens of disabled and elderly residents on the Mozart Estate, in Third Avenue.
