New medical centre for St John's Wood?
A medical centre specialising in cancer treatment looks set to be coming to St John's Wood.
A six-storey building in Lodge Road, currently used by an oil company, could be converted into a medical centre for up to 280 patients per day.
The clinic would be a day centre with around 90 staff. No major or complex surgery is proposed, as there are acute care hospitals nearby.
A decision over the proposals, submitted by Rolfe Judd Planning, is to be made by Westminster Council's planning committee on Thursday night.
Council officers have recommended that the medical centre should be given the go-ahead, providing patients are only treated between 7.30am and 10pm, from Monday to Saturday.
They also recommended that medical waste should only be collected bewteeen 8am and 9pm, from Monday to Saturday, to protect residents from noise pollution.
The impact on traffic was deemed to be 'acceptable' by officers, as patients would be arriving in even distribution throughout the day.
