A second motorbiker was killed on the A40 Westway on Friday.

Dimitrijius Usas, 32, from Isleworth, was riding a Suzuki bike at around 5.20pm when it collided with the central reservation barrier on the busy road, above Westbourne Park tube station.

Face painting, an art competition and market stalls will be on offer at a spring festival to be held in Bayswater.

The Connaught Village Festival, on May 14, takes place on Connaught Street, Kendal Street and Porchester Place from 4pm to 9pm.

A motorcyclist was killed when he crashed on the A40 Westway in Paddington.

Mohamad El-Sayede Ahmad, 41, from Ealing, died at around 4.20pm on Wednesday, when his red and white Yamaha motorbike collided with the central reservation.

'Barbecue fire' in Marylebone

A blaze broke out at a flat in Marylebone last night.

A small part of the three room flat in Great Portland Street and part of the outside decking were damaged by the fire.

Robbers smashed the window of a St John's Wood jeweller's and grabbed more than £150,000 of gems and watches.

The jewellery shop, in St John's Wood High Street, was targeted at around 3.15pm yesterday.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision.

Herta Barton, 86, of St John's Wood died from her injuries following a collision with a number 25 bus at the junction of Oxford Street and Bond Street at around 1.15pm on April 8.

All council-run libraries in Westminster will be closed on both bank holidays in May.

Normal opening hours will be resumed on the Tuesdays after the bank holidays, which are on Monday, May 4 and Monday, May 25.

St John's Wood flat blaze

Fire broke out at a flat in St John's Wood in the early hours of today.

A bedsit on the first floor of the Finchley Road block was gutted by the fire and its occupier escaped before the fire brigade arrived.

A sign language course is starting up in Bayswater.

From May 5, lessons begin at the Training for Life Westminster CIL centre in Westbourne Park Road.

Magazine thief strikes

A thief stole around £35 worth of magazines from a newsagent in Thayer Street, last Wednesday at 5.50am.

The owner received a delivery and put the magazines in a container outside the shop. A CCTV camera captured the thief, who is described as a white man, around 45 years old, with receding hair and wearing a light-coloured shirt.
