Robbers smashed the window of a St John's Wood jeweller's and grabbed more than £150,000 of gems and watches.

The jewellery shop, in St John's Wood High Street, was targeted at around 3.15pm yesterday.

Six people on three mopeds pulled up at the front of the shop.

The three pillion passengers got off the bikes and smashed the display window and glass in the entranceway.

The door was forced open and the three entered the shop smashing display cabinets and threatening members of staff with a sledge hammer.

The six people, all wearing helmets and leathers, left the scene on the mopeds heading in the direction of Baker Street.
