St John's Wood woman dies in bus collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision.

Herta Barton, 86, of St John's Wood died from her injuries following a collision with a number 25 bus at the junction of Oxford Street and Bond Street at around 1.15pm on April 8.

She was taken to the Royal London Hospital in a life-threatening condition, where she died later that afternoon.

A post mortem took place at Westminster Mortuary and gave the cause of death as multiple head injuries.

An Inquest was opened and adjourned at Westminster Coroners Court.

The driver of the bus stopped at the scene.

There have been no arrests.

An investigation has opened under Detective Sergeant Gavin Burton at the Collision Investigation Unit at Euston Traffic Garage. Anyone with information is asked to call the witness line on 0207 388 6806 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
