New garden opens on North Paddington estate
There was sunshine, showers and smiles as a new community garden opened at a North Paddington estate.
The open space on the Amberley Estate, in Clearwell Drive, was formerly an area which attracted antisocial behaviour but it has now been transformed.
CityWest Homes, whice manages the estate, worked closely with the residents' association to create the new garden.
Flowers and shrubs, new paving stones, pergolas and benches have all been used to give the area a dramatic facelift.
Linda Heavey, who lives on the estate, said: "We are so pleased with this space, it is really lovely.
"It's very quiet and peaceful and a great place to come and sit and relax.
"The difference it has made is wonderful."
Mark Hoyland, chief executive of CityWest Homes, who officially opened the garden by planting a tree said: "We are delighted that we have been able to revitalise this area.
"It is great that residents have such a lovely, peaceful space to use.
"This project is a great example of partnership working and everyone should be very proud of the results."
