North Paddington runner faces marathon challenge

Posted by Juliet Eysenck on Aug 25, 09 02:36 PM in Good Causes

A keen North Paddington runner is attempting to complete two and a half marathons by the end of the year.

David Anderson, 36, of Elgin Avenue, is set to take part in the 26-mile Berlin Marathon on September 20 before running a little closer to home in the Royal Parks Foundation half marathon on October 11.

The energetic lawyer also ran the London Marathon in April this year, to make it a year of challenges.

He is currently in training for both the upcoming marathon and the Royal Parks half marathon, which will take him through four of London's parks - Green Park, Hyde Park, St James's Park, and Kensington Gardens.

Mr Anderson, who first ran a marathon in Sydney ten years ago, said: "My training is going pretty well. I'm currently training for the Berlin Marathon next month before taking part in the Royal Parks so it's quite intense.

"A friend of mine was running in the Royal Parks half marathon so I signed up to run it with him, and now I'm getting very excited about it."

He will be running to raise money for Right to Play, an organisation which uses sport to improve the lives of disadvantaged children across the world, who have been affected by war, poverty and disease.

Mr Anderson has travelled throughout Africa and said he recognised the need for sports programmes in such countries.

* There are just three days left to enter the Royal Parks half marathon.
