Free sports open day in Queen's Park

Budding sports men and women are invited to get active with a free open day in Queen's Park tomorrow (Friday).

The event, held at Moberly Sports Centre, in Kilburn Lane, is set to encourage Westminster residents with disabilities to take part in a wide range of sports on offer across the borough.

A range of accessible activities will be available including power lifting, table tennis and sitting volleyball, and will include a healthy meal.

Speakers will also provide dedicated health advice and explain how a healthy lifestyle is achievable for all.

The day has been arranged by Westminster Council in collaboration with NHS Westminster as part of the wider People's Record Project and runs from 10am to 1.30pm.

The project aims to promote notions of friendship, respect and team work, as well as exploring other cultures, and it targets Westminster's entire residency, from school children upwards.

The Centre offers excellent sporting facilities as well as extensive activity programmes for residents of all ages.

All of the Centre's facilities are wheelchair accessible, making it a pioneer of sports for disabilities within Westminster.
