Maida Vale pupils reap fruits of their labour
Elderly Kensington nursing home residents and pupils at a Maida Vale school enjoyed the fruits of their labour after growing crops together.
Earlier this year, students from St Augustine's High School, in Oxford Road, gave pensioners at The Kensington Nursing Home, in Ladbroke Road, Ladbroke Grove, a helping hand in planting fruit and vegetables in the care home's garden.
They returned on Wednesday as part of the harvest celebrations, marking the final stage of the Community Crops campaign.
Christine Small, home manager at The Kensington, said: "We've loved every minute of the Community Crops campaign, so a big thank you must go to all the pupils who have helped us.
"We've gained a real sense of achievement. It's been a great way to enjoy gardening and the fresh air, and we've certainly appreciated being able to sample all of our crops."
Community Crops is an initiative set up by Bupa, one of the largest care services organisations in the country.
