Hyde Park gun salute marks Prince Charles' birthday
Prince Charles' birthday will be marked with a gun salute in Hyde Park on Saturday.
The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery will fire the salute at noon to celebrate the 61st birthday of HRH The Prince of Wales, close to the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane.
The King's Troop will leave St John's Wood Barracks, arriving at Hyde Park shortly before noon.
Each of the six First World War 13-pounder guns is drawn by immaculately turned-out colour-matched horses.
They will gallop down the park, come to a halt, unhook and then await the stroke of noon when each gun will fire a blank cartridge at ten second intervals.
This colourful and noisy spectacle is free and members of the public are invited to attend.
The Gun Salute for HRH The Prince of Wales was bestowed as a gift by the Queen last year to mark his 60th Birthday.
It has now become a permanent fixture in the calendar of the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery.
