Fire in St John's Wood deemed 'not suspicious'

Posted by Juliet Eysenck on Dec 21, 09 02:24 PM in People

A flat fire in St John's Wood which killed two children is now being treated as non-suspicious by police.

Shortly before 3am on Thursday, December 17, police were informed of a fire at a four-storey block of flats in Cunningham Place.

A girl of five, Farah Rashid, was pronounced dead at the scene, and her brother Mohamad Rashid, 13, fell from a window and later died in hospital.

Police have confirmed they are no longer treating the incident as suspicious, and believe the fire was caused by an 'electrical fault'.

Post-mortems and an inquest will be scheduled in due course.
