Maida Vale cafe targeted by armed robbers
Terrified staff were forced into the basement of a Maida Vale café by armed robbers.
Two men, believed to be armed with a gun, entered Starbucks in Randolph Avenue, shortly after 8pm on Thursday, December 3.
After forcing staff into the café's basement, the men then stole a quantity of cash and made their escape.
The coffee shop was closed at the time of the robbery.
The two robbers are described as white men, aged around 30.
Flying Squad detectives are investigating.
Tim McCoy, head of communications for Starbucks UK and Ireland, said: "At Starbucks, the safety of our partners (employees) and customers is of the utmost importance.
"We can confirm that after close of business on Thursday, December 3, 2009 an incident occurred at Starbucks coffeehouse in Maida Vale, Randolph Avenue.
"None of our customers were affected, and we're fully cooperating with the police as they carry out their investigation.
"We have also offered counselling to both of the affected partners and the entire store team, and will continue to ensure they receive our full support."
