New natural wonderland for Queen's Park
Work has just begun on a new natural wonderland in Queen's Park.
Residents on the Mozart Estate, in Third Avenue, worked with housing organisation CityWest Homes on the designs of the playground which will have a natural theme.
The playground, due to be completed in mid February, is set to feature timber-based play equipment, flower and woodland designs and areas of biodiversity, as well as a junior play area, stepping stone path, a double swing and toddler play space.
Mike Wilson, CityWest Homes community involvement officer, says: "Mozart estate is an area of intensive social housing with very few play facilities.
"With the new playground we hope to address this issue and provide quality facilities for the children on the estate to enjoy for a long time."
The playground will cost £153,000 with funding from CityWest Homes and the Big Lottery Fund.
